Self retracting side stands can be a real pain, as can be ignition cut outs. For the Guzzi Quota, and some earlier sport bikes, a simple parts substitution can make the stand behave "like it should".  While a more elegant solution could easily be designed, we chose the down and dirty method with parts at hand. We used an 8mm X 40mm bolt with nut, welded to an 8mm and a 10mm washer as shown. When swapped out for the OEM link; the sidestand stays down,* and no grinding or other modification is required.
 

*Self retracting sidestands are made for a reason. Altering the OEM coinfiguration may cause a dangerous situation that could  result in injury. We reccomend this modification for display purposes only.
