Encore
Performance & Fabrication has teamed up with Ironclad Bicycles to rent specially equipped, high quality Gary Fisher Bikes
from our new location next to Watson Lake Park in Prescott
Our location allows easy access to
"The Peavine Trail" via the Watson Lake / Lower Granite Creek Discovery
Trail. The Peavine is a rails to trails project, and it is listed as a
National Recreation Trail. It is part of the City of Prescott trails network.
The Peavine Trail currently runs about 4.75 miles from
the trailhead near Prescott Lakes Boulevard and Sundog Ranch Road to the
old Highway 89 bridge. The newly completed Prescott Valley trail adds about
3.75 more miles from a point known as "Entro" (near mile post 3) to its
trailhead on Glassford Hill Road Both trails feature gentle gradients,
and a wide firm surface that is ideal for sight seeing by bicycle. The
Peavine was named for the way it snakes through the scenic wonderland known
as the Granite Dells, where an incredible assortment of naturally sculpted
granite outcroppings are exposed.
The route from the rental shop at Encore Performance heads
off through Watson Lake Park, then South below the Watson Lake Overlook
on Highway 89, then turns East as it crosses Granite Creek in the lush
area bordering the Watson Woods Riparian Preserve. The Lower Granite Creek
Discovery Trail joins up with the Peavine at approximately the half mile
mark (From the Sundog Ranch trailhead), It takes about a mile of easy pedaling
to get this far. Turn North on the trail to head for the Dells, and about
two and a half miles of incredible views await, before you reach "Entro"
where the Prescott Valley trail forks off to the right, and adds 3.75 more
miles of great riding.
If you stay to the left, you will continue on the Peavine
until it reaches the old Highway 89 bridge, then peters out. (about 1.75
more miles) In the future, the City of Prescott hopes to purchase the right
of way from private property owners to extend the trail, eventually connecting
with the Chino Valley leg of the old rail line, thus connecting all three
communities of the tri-city area. Please help to ensure this potential
opportunity by respecting the rights of the private owners whose
property borders the trail.
